Amazon rolls out free Alexa Plus upgrade to all US Fire TV devices

Amazon announced that all Fire TV hardware sold in the United States will be upgraded to include Alexa Plus, its more conversational AI assistant, free of charge. The rollout begins immediately for devices such as the Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember smart TVs and third-party TVs from Panasonic and Hisense that already embed Alexa Plus. New capabilities will let users ask for film recommendations based on mood, jump directly to specific scenes, and control connected smart-home gadgets like lights and locks.

Until now, access to Alexa Plus was limited to customers with a Prime membership or a separate Alexa Plus subscription. Amazon indicated the upgrade will happen automatically and hinted that further devices and markets may be added over time.
