Amazon to cut roughly 150 corporate jobs in Bay Area offices

Amazon filed paperwork indicating the removal of approximately 150 corporate positions in its Northern California sites, specifically 70 jobs in Sunnyvale and 78 at the Bush Street office in San Francisco, with all impacted employees scheduled to depart by October 20. This move follows two major layoff waves since October 2025 that together eliminated about 30,000 corporate roles as CEO Andy Jassy seeks to streamline management layers and cut bureaucracy.

The current reductions focus on corporate and managerial tiers, trimming about 20% of management posts and dissolving small “micro-teams,” while also ending most remote work in favor of central hubs. Independent-contract drivers are not affected by these cuts. Earlier in the year, filings showed 135 Amazon corporate workers in New York City received termination notices in January, with an additional 165 laid off later, highlighting a nationwide pattern of corporate downsizing.
