Amazon truck crash blocks southbound lanes of I-5 near Norwalk, kills one
A multi-vehicle collision involving an Amazon tractor-trailer and three other vehicles shut several southbound lanes on the 5 Freeway near Norwalk early Thursday, leaving at least one person dead.
Just after midnight on Thursday, an Amazon truck collided with a cargo van and two other vehicles on the southbound 5 Freeway near Norwalk, creating a severe pile-up. Video from the scene showed the van overturned and the Amazon cab damaged, with debris littering the roadway. Responders from the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Fe Springs Station and the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived to manage the wreck, inspect the site and coordinate tow trucks.
The accident blocked several lanes until at least 7 a.m., though the highway police did not issue a Sig Alert. At least one fatality has been confirmed, while the health status of the remaining occupants has not been released. The incident remains under investigation to determine its cause.
