AMD expands FSR 4.1 upscaling to Xbox consoles and portable devices
AMD announced that its latest FSR 4.1 upscaling technology will be rolled out to Xbox Series X and S consoles, as well as laptops, Radeon RX 6000 GPUs and handhelds.
AMD revealed that its newest FidelityFX Super Resolution version, FSR 4.1, is being added to a range of hardware, starting with Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs through the latest Adrenalin 26.10.1 driver. The update also reaches Ryzen AI Max 300/400 and AI 9 300/400 series laptops, and will be integrated into Xbox's upcoming handheld devices such as the Ally X. Xbox chief technology officer Scott Van Vilet said the partnership with AMD is delivering a powerful tool for developers, while Jack Huynh, senior vice president of AMD’s computer and graphics group, highlighted refinements to the algorithm and code.
The rollout follows AMD’s earlier March launch of FSR 4.1 for Radeon RX 9000-series cards and promises performance gains in more than 300 games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The exact timing for console availability remains unspecified, listed only as "coming soon."
Why it matters
Gamers will gain better performance and visual quality on existing Xbox hardware and a broad set of PCs and handhelds.
