American Airlines flight diverted to Baltimore after passenger restrained with duct tape

An American Airlines flight scheduled from Dallas-Fort Worth to Newark made an unscheduled stop in Baltimore after a passenger in a first-class seat erupted into a verbal and physical disturbance. Witnesses said the individual, who appeared intoxicated, shouted at a nearby passenger, hurled a racial slur at a flight attendant and made homophobic remarks before becoming aggressive. Crew members, assisted by other travelers, restrained him with multiple loops of duct tape around his wrists, torso and head.

After the aircraft landed, police took the man into custody and the flight continued to its original destination. American Airlines released a statement highlighting its commitment to safety and commending the crew’s actions. The FBI confirmed the passenger faces state charges and is under federal investigation, though his identity has not been released.
