American Airlines rolls out upgraded Flagship Business Class on its 777-300ER fleet

American Airlines has introduced a revamped Flagship Business Class suite across its 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, adding doors, more storage and upgraded entertainment.

American Airlines announced that its entire fleet of twenty Boeing 777-300ERs now features the new Flagship Business Class suite, first shown on a JFK-Buenos Aires service. The cabin now holds 70 one-aisle-access suites arranged 1×2×1, each equipped with sliding privacy doors, expanded storage, wireless charging, USB-C and AC outlets, and 17.5-inch 4K screens with Bluetooth. Premium economy capacity rose to 44 seats, while the previous Flagship First cabins were rebranded as Flagship Preferred suites that can accommodate an extra passenger.

The airline also refreshed its Main Cabin and Main Cabin Extra seats, bringing the total to 330 seats per aircraft. Executives cite strong demand from households earning $150,000 or more, positioning the upgrade as part of a broader industry push toward premium travel despite economic headwinds. American plans to operate the upgraded 777-300ER on routes to London, Tokyo, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Sydney.

Why it matters

The upgrade targets high-earning travelers, boosting revenue on long-haul routes as airlines bet on premium cabins.
