American Airlines to match $1,000 federal contribution for employees' children

American Airlines announced a new benefit that will begin in 2027, matching the federal $1,000 Trump Account contribution for each eligible child of its U.S.-based workforce. The airline’s contribution is a one-time $1,000 payment for children born from 2025 through 2028 who have opened a Trump Account and qualify for the government’s grant, with the match applied separately for each child. In addition, the carrier will let eligible employees allocate up to $2,500 of pretax earnings each year toward their dependent children’s accounts.

The move is presented as an expansion of the company’s financial-security offerings, which already include a 401(k) plan, health benefits and career-development resources. Approximately one-third of American’s staff have children who could use the new option, according to the airline. The initiative aligns with a broader Treasury push encouraging employers to support the Trump Account program.
