American teen injured in Mumbai hit-and-run as speeding biker flees
A 15-year-old American student was injured in a hit-and-run when a speeding motorcyclist struck her on Juhu Road in Mumbai and fled.
On Tuesday morning in Mumbai’s Juhu suburb, a 15-year-old American girl was struck by a motorcyclist traveling at high speed near Bhaidas Hall and fled the scene. The incident occurred at about 8.15 am as she crossed NS Road after picking up her tiffin, leaving her with a concussion, bruised leg and a jaw injury; she was later hospitalized. Her mother reported the child could not recall the crash.
Juhu Police registered a rash-driving case and are pursuing the rider. Community members highlighted that speed-breakers removed during Metro construction have not been replaced, making the stretch hazardous. Dhaval Shah of the Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizens Association said they have appealed to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to reinstall the speed-breakers.
