American tourist dies after falling from 18th floor of Cancun luxury resort

An unnamed American visitor fell from the 18th floor of a Cancun adults-only resort and was declared dead, with her husband saying she had acted “outrageously” and police opening an investigation.

An unnamed American woman fell to her death from the 18th floor of the five-star, adults-only Breathless Cancun Soul Resort & Spa, a 429-suite property on Cancun’s hotel zone. The 150-foot drop occurred late Thursday night, and emergency services declared her dead at the scene. According to Mexican media Sipse, her husband approached resort staff shortly after the incident, claiming his wife had done something “outrageous.”

Police indicated that he will be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. The resort lies about 25 minutes from Cancun airport along Kukulcan Boulevard, an area that also hosts other upscale hotels such as the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun and JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa. The U.S. State Department was contacted for comment, but no further details have been released.
