Ammon Bundy arrested in Utah after refusing to exit unregistered truck
Ammon Bundy was taken into custody in southern Utah after a traffic stop for an unregistered truck and an expired license, refusing officers’ orders.
Police stopped Ammon Bundy on I-15 in southern Utah after noticing his Ford F-250 lacked a rear registration plate. When asked about registration, Bundy responded, “You can talk to my lawyer,” and later refused to exit the vehicle, claiming his “right to travel.” Officers attempted to impound the truck and repeatedly ordered him out; he grasped the steering wheel and resisted, requiring deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers to physically remove him, handcuff him, and carry him to a patrol car.
He was booked on charges including failure to obey an officer, interference, driving without registration, and an expired driver’s license, and placed in Iron County Jail before being bailed out. Bundy told reporters he objects to licensing laws and views traveling as a God-given right, echoing his past confrontations with law enforcement.
