Amritsar Rural Police Disrupt Terror Plot, Seize 690-gram IED

Amritsar Rural Police reported that a patrol officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector Kulbir Singh, found a suspicious black, wax-wrapped package near the Gaggomahal police post during the night of Aug. 15-16. The package held a 690-gram improvised explosive device, an electronic detonator, battery, timer and an iron box. The Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately deployed, defused the device and secured the remaining items.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav posted that the explosive material was processed following established security procedures. Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal noted that security inspections have been intensified and government sites are under close surveillance ahead of Independence Day. Authorities have registered a case under the Explosive Substances Act at Ramdas police station and continue the investigation.
