At the Diamond League meet in Lausanne, Amy Hunt recorded a 22.32-second run to secure second place in the women's 200m, narrowly beating Nigeria's Favour Ofili in a photo-finish. The race was won by Kayla White of the United States, who finished in 22.18 seconds. Former world champion Shericka Jackson suffered a leg injury on the bend and was unable to finish, while two-time Diamond League champion Brittany Brown did not start.
Hunt traveled to Switzerland on the momentum of a historic four-gold haul at the European Championships in Birmingham, where she captured titles in the 100m, 200m, women's 4x100m relay and mixed 4x100m relay. The next Diamond League stops are scheduled for Silesia, Poland on 23 August, Zurich, Switzerland on 27 August, and the season finale in Brussels, Belgium on the weekend of 4-5 September.
