Amylyx's experimental therapy cuts severe low-blood-sugar episodes in bariatric patients
Amylyx Pharmaceuticals reported that its investigational drug lowered serious hypoglycemia events by 55% in a Phase 3 trial of post-bariatric patients, exceeding the study’s expected 35% improvement.
In a late-stage trial, participants with post-bariatric hypoglycemia who received the Amylyx candidate experienced a 55% drop in serious low-blood-sugar incidents compared with placebo. The trial was designed to detect a 35% benefit, making the result notably stronger than anticipated. Co-CEO Justin Klee highlighted that reducing such emergencies, which can cause loss of consciousness or seizures, would be highly valuable for patients and families.
