Analyst warns Russia may have already begun large-scale mobilization

Security expert Emil Kastehelmi says Russia could already be carrying out a new wave of troop mobilization, citing recent statements by Ukrainian officials.

In a recent episode of Tilannestudio, conflict analyst Emil Kastehelmi suggested that Russia may have already initiated a new mobilization of its armed forces. He based his assessment on remarks made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who indicated that Ukrainian military intelligence sees Russia moving to increase the number of conscripts. Kastehelmi described the development as a significant turning point and warned that the mobilization carries serious risks.

He explained his view in a video segment linked to the broadcast. Kastehelmi is a founding member of the Black Bird Group, which monitors the war through open-source data and updates the online "The War in Ukraine" map.

Why it matters
