Andalusia launches staggered free flu and Covid shots for residents starting October 1

Free flu and Covid-19 vaccinations begin on October 1 in Malaga, Axarquia and Granada, with eligibility expanding weekly by age and risk group.

Andalusia’s autumn immunisation drive kicks off on October 1, offering free flu and Covid-19 shots to young children, pregnant women, early-year teachers, care-home residents, their carers and health-care staff. The rollout proceeds in three weekly phases: on October 7, the campaign adds people aged 80+, high-dependency home-care patients and their carers, as well as health-care professionals; on October 14, those 70+ and adults under 60 with specified health risks join; and on October 21, vaccination becomes available to all residents 60 and older, plus police, firefighters, prison staff and animal-exposure workers.

This year the high-dose flu vaccine is offered from age 75, five years earlier than before. British nationals enrolled in the regional health system are subject to the same schedule. Appointments can be booked via SAS platforms such as ClicSalud+, the Salud Andalucia and Salud Responde apps, phone lines, or local health centres.
