András Fekete-Győr quits Momentum and launches independent nationwide tour
Former Momentum leader András Fekete-Győr announced his departure from the party and will campaign across Hungary as an independent politician.
András Fekete-Győr, ex-president of Momentum and former MP, posted that he is leaving the party and will pursue politics as an independent figure. He reflected that his views have evolved since his early twenties and stressed that, despite past mistakes, he cannot be called corrupt or abusive. Without a parliamentary mandate, party structure or state salary, he argues he is not a "regular" politician but will not disappear from public life.
He cited the large online following and past mobilisations, such as the protest for Iványi Gábor, as reasons to keep engaging. Fekete-Győr announced he will monitor the work of investigative bodies and use public data to hold officials accountable. From November, he will embark on a nationwide tour with members of the FélmillióFiatal movement, aiming to rebuild a progressive force for the 2030 elections and influence debates on issues like the 2036 Olympic bid.
Why it matters
The move could reshape Hungary's opposition landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
