Aneurin Donald to debut for England T20 against Sri Lanka at Utilita Bowl

Aneurin Donald, a Derbyshire and former Glamorgan player, is set to debut for England in the T20 match against Sri Lanka at the Utilita Bowl. His selection follows a prolific domestic season highlighted by 37 sixes in this year’s Vitality Blast, and comes after injuries forced Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell out of the squad. Donald will open the innings alongside Jos Buttler, with England’s captaincy handed to Harry Brook for the game.

Head coach Brendon McCullum praised Donald’s raw power and ability to attack from the first ball. Jofra Archer will be rested to manage his workload, and the bowling attack will feature Jamie Overton, Sonny Baker, Josh Tongue, Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid.
