Anheuser-Busch and Tunnel to Towers Foundation Expand 9/11 Memorial Tour
Anheuser-Busch is backing the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s cross-country “Steel Across America” tour, moving a 21-foot World Trade Center beam toward New York for the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
In advance of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Anheuser-Busch has strengthened its collaboration with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, sponsoring a multi-city “Steel Across America” tour. The convoy will transport a 21-foot, 16,900-pound steel beam salvaged from the South Tower of the World Trade Center, making 35 stops in about 30 locations before entering New York City via a tunnel, mirroring the path taken by Stephen Siller, an off-duty FDNY firefighter who perished that day.
Stephen Siller Jr., who runs the foundation’s In the Line of Duty program, said the tour aims to help younger generations understand the sacrifices made. Anheuser-Busch will also re-broadcast its Budweiser “Respect” commercial, which features the brand’s Clydesdale horses bowing at the Twin Towers memorial and the Freedom Tower, marking its fourth airing on a September 11 anniversary. The company’s chief external affairs officer, Cesar Vargas, emphasized that the partnership honors both the victims of the attacks and today’s everyday heroes. Additionally, the foundation’s annual NYC 5K Run & Walk on September 27 will be sponsored by Anheuser-Busch for the fifth year, with 250 employees and family members participating and the Clydesdales leading the opening procession.
Why it matters
