Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett star in thriller adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s ‘Verity’
The psychological thriller “Verity,” featuring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, debuts in theaters on Friday, adapting Colleen Hoover’s bestseller.
“Verity” arrives in cinemas this Friday as a psychological thriller based on Colleen Hoover’s popular novel. Anne Hathaway assumes the role of a celebrated author rendered speechless after a car crash, while Dakota Johnson plays a struggling writer tasked with completing her manuscripts and becomes entangled in the house and its secrets. Josh Hartnett portrays the husband, whose seemingly caring demeanor masks deeper ambiguities.
Director Michael Showalter, inspired by Hitchcock and De Palma, assembled the trio as a “super group,” noting that the actors often broke into giggles during intense scenes. The production also references Johnson’s family legacy in classic thrillers, adding a personal dimension. Hathaway, who also produced the film, caps a year that included five major releases and anticipates a brief hiatus before future projects.
