Anne Hathaway Teams Up with Tom Cruise for New Days of Thunder Sequel

Paramount Pictures confirmed that Anne Hathaway will appear alongside Tom Cruise in the next installment of the Days of Thunder franchise, with a target release window in the summer of 2028. Cruise is set to return as the scrappy racer Cole Trickle, and Hathaway will play a character who owns and engineers a race-car team. The sequel will be directed by Jonathan Levine, known for Long Shot and Mr. Irrelevant.

Production will see Cruise taking on a producing role together with Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. The original film featured Cruise’s character being recruited by a retired legend, and the new movie will continue the high-speed storyline decades later. Hathaway’s recent film slate includes several 2026 releases, highlighting her busy schedule before the sequel’s debut.
