ANO aims for Prague mayor but rejects coalition with Pirates ahead of 2026 elections
ANO says it wants the Prague mayoralty but will not join a coalition with the Pirates, leaving coalition options open after the municipal vote.
Ahead of the 2026 municipal elections, ANO’s deputy chairman Karel Havlíček declared the party’s ambition to secure the Prague mayor’s seat but stressed it will not fight for a coalition with the Pirates at any cost. He added that ANO’s councilors will enjoy considerable leeway when negotiating post-election alliances, based on how the vote unfolds. STAN chief Vít Rakušan echoed a refusal to partner with ANO, favouring a coalition with the Spolu alliance and rejecting extremist parties.
ODS leader Petr Kupka highlighted the importance of the metropolitan plan for Prague’s development and signalled openness to cooperation with STAN but not with SPD. Pirates leader Zdeněk Hřib and SPD head Tomio Okamura both dismissed the idea of governing together with ANO, citing past performance and policy disagreements.
