Anthropic adds Claude Cowork to Chrome sidebar for seamless AI assistance
Anthropic's Claude Cowork is now integrated into the Claude for Chrome extension, letting users run the chatbot from the browser side panel.
Anthropic has expanded its Claude for Chrome extension to include the Claude Cowork chatbot in the browser's side panel. Conversations held there will be stored in the user's history, and the AI's built-in skills and third-party connectors will function natively within Chrome. The integration allows tasks to be initiated in a standalone Claude app and then resumed in the browser, or vice versa, providing a fluid workflow.
Max and Team subscription tiers can start using the sidebar feature today, while Pro plan users will receive access in the upcoming weeks. The move is aimed at users who perform many operations in the Google-owned browser and need AI support for tools lacking direct integration. Claude Code, the coding-focused version, is already part of the same plugin, and Claude Cowork was originally launched as a simplified option for general users, recently gaining smartphone control. The Claude for Chrome extension was first rolled out to all Anthropic customers in late 2025.
Why it matters
It lets Chrome users access Anthropic's AI directly in the browser, streamlining workflows across supported and unsupported tools.
