Anthropic negotiates $6 billion purchase of AI firm Decart

Anthropic PBC is in discussions to acquire Decart AI for roughly $6 billion, a deal that would become its largest purchase to date.

Anthropic PBC is reportedly in advanced talks to purchase Decart AI for about $6 billion, according to people familiar with the negotiations. Decart specializes in world-model simulations and chip-efficiency tools that could help Anthropic scale its infrastructure to meet rising demand. If the transaction closes, it would surpass any prior acquisition by Anthropic and precede the company’s anticipated initial public offering.

Decart’s portfolio includes the Lucy AI system, which can generate high-resolution, real-time video of a person appearing to try on clothing, a capability that addresses long-standing challenges in fashion e-commerce. The startup’s clientele includes eBay and live-streaming platforms used by influencers. While the deal remains tentative and subject to collapse, both firms declined to comment on the matter.

Why it matters

The deal could reshape AI competition by giving Anthropic a major technology boost ahead of its IPO.
