Anthropic to Open Singapore Office as AI Demand Grows in Southeast Asia

AI firm Anthropic announced it will launch its first Southeast Asian office in Singapore this October, citing strong local demand for its Claude models.

Anthropic, the creator of the Claude series of large language models, confirmed it will establish a Singapore office in October, marking its inaugural presence in Southeast Asia. Existing locations include Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul and Sydney, and the decision reflects Singapore’s ranking as the second-highest user of Claude worldwide, according to the firm’s Economic Index. Dale Finlay, Anthropic’s ASEAN general manager, will head the new site, which aims to hire talent for roles in applied AI, finance, marketing, sales and economic research.

The company highlighted Singapore’s concentration of technical expertise, multinational businesses and supportive innovation ecosystem as key factors. This expansion mirrors recent moves by OpenAI, which opened an Asia headquarters in Singapore, and Plaud, which also set up a regional base there. Anthropic’s entry underscores the accelerating competition among major AI players to capture the fast-growing Asian market.

Anthropic’s Singapore office signals intensified AI competition in Asia and could boost local tech jobs and innovation.
