Anti-mafia magistrates and new task force boost fight against organized crime in Corsica

Corsica is seeing an intensified crackdown on organised crime as specialised anti-mafia magistrates arrive to reinforce a task force promised by Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin. At the ceremonial start of the Bastia court of appeal and judicial tribunal, Hélène Davo noted the unique judicial setup now in place. The recent appointments of Christophe Perruaux, former director of the Office national antifraude, as prosecutor general, and Fanny Floquet, who will lead the Ajaccio prosecutor's office, signal a focus on financial and gang-related offences.

Perruaux previously coordinated investigative judges in Marseille, while Floquet brings her own anti-crime credentials. Authorities have already placed several suspected criminals in custody, indicating the operation is gaining traction.
