Antifa trial verdicts reduced, Maja T. sentenced to seven years in prison
Hungarian courts lowered the sentences for the antifa case defendants, with Maja T. receiving a seven-year term.
In a recent appellate decision, the sentences handed down in the antifa assault case were softened. Maja T., one of the accused, now faces a seven-year imprisonment, down from the original eight-year term. Her associate Gabriele M. also received a reduced sentence, now set at six years instead of the previously announced seven.
The rulings are final and were met with large crowds of supporters and media outside the court building, where demonstrators called for her release. Earlier, the first-instance court had sentenced Maja T. to eight years for violent attacks carried out in February 2023. The prosecution had sought a total of fourteen years for the defendants. Both the prosecution and the defense appealed the initial verdict, leading to one outlet adjustments.
