Antonio Brown's plea hearing in Miami delayed to late October

A Miami judge postponed the plea hearing for former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, moving it from the original date to Oct. 28. Brown had entered the courtroom prepared to plead no contest to aggravated assault, a move that would have resulted in probation under a negotiated plea agreement. The judge cited involvement in another trial as the reason for the delay.

The case originates from a May 2025 incident after a celebrity boxing event, where Brown allegedly seized a gun from security and fired two shots, one of which grazed the neck of Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. Prosecutors say the deal would spare Brown from prison and a felony conviction, while his attorney remains hopeful the judge will accept it. If the original charge of attempted murder stands, Brown could face a sentence of up to 30 years. Both parties have voiced a wish for a swift resolution, with Nantambu urging Brown to use the plea to improve his life.
