Anwar urges probe into his tenure and calls for extended investigation period

During an audio broadcast, Anwar urged that the inquiry into the TH agency examine events from 2021 through 2024, covering his time leading a unity government. He argued one outlet scope, which stops at 2020, is insufficient and should be expanded to include the periods of the Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional coalitions. The Royal Commission on TH, set up in 2021 to review management and asset issues from 2014 to 2020, had completed its report in July 2022.

Following its findings, former minister Jamil Khir Baharom and ex-chair Azeez Rahim were charged, though they maintain innocence. Anwar stressed that determining guilt lies with law-enforcement agencies such as the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, not the prime minister’s office. He also said he will not support any action that unjustly harms individuals and that courts will decide based on facts.
