AOC campaign spends nearly $50,000 on luxury hotel stays nationwide

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s re-election effort has paid almost $50,000 for upscale hotel rooms at 45 locations across the United States since April.

Records filed with the Federal Election Commission reveal that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign has spent close to $50,000 on luxury hotel accommodations at 45 separate instances since April, with a $5,044 charge at The Memphian in Memphis and sizable bills at The Candler Hotel in Atlanta and The Talbott in Chicago. Manhattan expenses include $530.46 at Thompson Central Park and $318 at Hyatt Seville NoMad, both classified as upscale properties.

The campaign’s travel costs also encompass premium ground transportation, totaling $1,791 for Golden Class Limo in Queens, $659 for Singh Car Service in Northern Virginia, $1,257 for Sleek Shuttle Service in Memphis, and $1,406 for Blacklane. Republican candidates have attacked the spending, calling Ocasio-Cortez a “champagne communist.” Despite the criticism, the campaign has raised more than $37 million this cycle, with $24 million coming from donors giving under $200, and it holds about $18 million in remaining funds.
