Apollo acquires nearly 10% stake in Mubadala Capital as part of $5 bn commitment
Apollo will purchase almost a 10% minority share in Mubadala Capital and join other investors in committing up to $5 billion to its strategies.
Apollo disclosed a plan to acquire an almost 10% minority stake in Mubadala Capital, the alternative-investment division of Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company. In addition to the equity purchase, Apollo will contribute capital alongside other minority shareholders, with the group expected to commit a total of $5 billion to Mubadala Capital’s five investment strategies at the first close. Mubadala Investment Company will stay the majority owner, and the subsidiary will preserve its own governance and management autonomy.
The transaction, which also brings Apollo into the shareholder group that includes the founders of Silver Rock Financial, is targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to legal and regulatory clearance. Both parties said the partnership will deepen alignment and expand global investment opportunities. Financial advisers included Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, while Skadden and Paul Weiss provided legal counsel.
Why it matters
The deal expands Apollo’s presence in the Middle East and gives Mubadala Capital a broader investor base for its $60 bn alternatives platform.
