Apple opens preorders for its first HomeView smart display, with alternatives listed

Apple's inaugural HomeView smart display can be preordered now, with shipments slated for November 13, and competing devices from Amazon and Google are also highlighted.

Apple has launched its first smart home display, the HomeView, and opened preorders through Amazon and the company’s own site, promising shipment on November 13. The device sports a 7-inch screen, Center Stage camera and built-in Siri, allowing video calls, music streaming, weather checks and personalized experiences for up to six family members. Users can place the unit on a kitchen counter or opt for a wall-mount kit, which may require professional installation.

Apple hints at a broader lineup of smart accessories, such as cameras, thermostats and door locks, expected later this year and into early 2027, though those are not yet for preorder. The piece also lists Amazon Echo Show 11 and 15, as well as Google Nest Hub, as alternative smart displays for consumers seeking different screen sizes or ecosystems.
