Apple rolls out record-breaking patch update covering over 260 security flaws

Apple's newest operating system versions, iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate, have been issued with fixes for a combined 260+ security vulnerabilities, marking the biggest patch cycle the firm has ever recorded. iOS 27 resolves 122 flaws, two of which were identified by AI-assisted researchers from Calif, Claude and Anthropic Research, while the remaining issues were disclosed by experts such as Andreas Jaegersberger, Ro Achterberg and Baidu Security's Ye Zhang. macOS 27 patches 204 bugs, including eight AI-found defects and several critical problems in the CUPS printing service and SMB protocol, credited to researchers like Aaron Grattafiori, the Nvidia AI Red Team and Bruce Dang. Apple notes that none of the vulnerabilities are presently exploited in the wild, but warns that threat actors could attempt to weaponise them. The surge in disclosed bugs reflects the growing role of artificial-intelligence tools in vulnerability hunting, even as automated patch generation remains limited.
