Apple's next MacBook Pro may be lighter with touchscreen OLED display

Apple is expected to unveil a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro next month that could weigh noticeably less than current models.

Industry sources say Apple plans to launch a new MacBook Pro featuring both a touchscreen and OLED panel as early as next month, with a weight that could be markedly lower than one outlet 14-inch and 16-inch models. The lighter profile is attributed to miniaturized parts and a reconfiguration of the laptop's internals. The notebook will reportedly retain one outlet top-tier M5 chip instead of the anticipated M7 chip slated for early 2027.

Its debut is expected to coincide with the first OLED iPad mini. The hardware shift may signal a renewed emphasis on design under new CEO John Ternus, who is reportedly rebuilding the design organization.
