Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 bring hidden health and AI upgrades

Apple’s new Series 12 and Ultra 4 watches keep the same look but add faster health sensors, a 2-nm S11 chip and enhanced Siri AI.

Apple’s Series 12 and Ultra 4 smartwatches arrive with the same exterior silhouettes but introduce new aluminium, titanium and ceramic finishes, priced from ₹56,900 to ₹1,24,900. The core upgrade is a new health-sensing architecture that adds a five-second optical heart-rate sensor, expanded electrical sensors and brighter green LEDs, enabling heart-rate logging every five seconds and HRV monitoring every five minutes.

Powered by a 2-nanometer S11 chip and 4 GB of memory, the devices feel noticeably snappier and extend battery life, with the Ultra 4 offering up to 18 hours of use after a short charge. WatchOS 27 brings a refreshed Health app, full-day vitals view and upcoming deeper health updates. Siri AI now supports live-recap, contextual chat and sound-recognition, all processed on-device via the Secure Enclave to protect privacy. Overall, the hidden hardware and software improvements aim to deepen the watches’ role as health monitors and AI companions.

Why it matters

The upgrades make Apple Watches more capable health tools and faster AI devices without changing their familiar look.
