Apple Watch Series 12 Review: Polished Upgrade with Subtle Changes

The Apple Watch Series 12 is a refined version of its predecessor, offering faster performance and new health metrics, while a Deloitte survey shows many Northern Irish workers are using generative AI without employer oversight.

The Series 12 keeps the same 42mm and 46mm cases, bright Always-On Retina display, and material options such as aluminium, titanium, ceramic and a new dark-bronze finish, but it introduces the S11 chip and a Health Sensing System that records heart-rate and variability more often. These upgrades enable a Readiness score that combines sleep, activity and HRV data to advise users on daily preparedness, alongside improved step tracking and existing health features like ECG and blood-oxygen monitoring.

Charging has been streamlined, with a quarter-hour charge delivering up to 12 hours of use and outdoor workout endurance reaching ten hours. In parallel, Deloitte’s first GenAI Workforce Survey for the UK indicates that many Northern Irish workers are turning to AI for routine tasks such as information searches, email drafting and fact-checking, often without explicit employer permission, and that only a minority have received formal AI training from their organizations.

Why it matters

Consumers need to know whether the Apple Watch Series 12’s modest upgrades justify a purchase, and employers should understand AI usage gaps in their workforce.
