Argentina's Milei heads to Washington to deepen Trump-aligned ties and promote economic reforms

Argentine President Javier Milei will spend two days in Washington, meeting U.S. officials and attending a Hispanic Heritage gala to strengthen his alliance with the Trump-aligned administration.

President Javier Milei departs Buenos Aires Tuesday night for a two-day Washington visit, accompanied by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno. His schedule features a meeting with U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, a discussion with oil magnate Harold Hamm, and a reception with Argentine entrepreneur Andy Kleinman. Milei will be honored at the Official Hispanic Heritage Gala, receiving a leadership award and speaking before Republican and conservative guests, including Brazilian exile Eduardo Bolsonaro.

He is slated to address the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Argentina’s post-populist economic strategy and will receive a “Global Champion of Free Enterprise” award. The trip ends with participation in an International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance forum at the Argentine Embassy, highlighting his opposition to antisemitism. No meeting with Donald Trump is confirmed, though endorsement of the administration is possible.
