Arizona man charged with murder after mother died in filthy, neglected home

Allen Page was arrested on second-degree murder and intentional adult abuse charges after his 84-year-old mother, Mary Elenz, was discovered in a deplorable condition at her Arizona home. A hospice nurse, called by Page for an evaluation on Sept. 18, 2025, found Elenz unresponsive, her skin adhered to dirty linens, flies buzzing, and maggots emerging from open wounds, prompting the nurse to break down in tears. Emergency responders moved her to Hospice of the Valley, where doctors diagnosed severe malnutrition; she died the next day.

The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner listed pneumonia complicated by skin wounds, with neglect as a contributing factor. Investigators noted that Page, unemployed since 2022, received $1,600 deposits from his mother’s Social Security checks and used the money for personal expenses, while also engaging in sexting during her final days. Prior abuse allegations dating back to 2019 were dismissed for lack of evidence, and his wife described him as a compulsive liar who failed to provide basic care. Bail was set at $1 million, and he is also charged with illegal gun possession.
