Armed gunmen on motorbikes kill five and abduct policeman at Mengal camp in Khuzdar
Five people, including four security guards and a policeman, were killed after gunmen attacked Mir Shafiqur Rehman Mengal’s camp in Khuzdar; a hospital employee was wounded.
In the Aranji locality of Khuzdar’s Wadh tehsil, armed men riding motorbikes assaulted the security post of PPP figure Mir Shafiqur Rehman Mengal’s camp near the Quetta-Karachi highway. The shooters killed four security guards—identified as Abdul Hayee, Naimatullah, Yahya and Naseer Ahmed—and abducted Constable Noor Muhammad, who was later found dead after being dumped. Hospital employee Obaidullah was also hit by gunfire.
The incident prompted police to transport the bodies and the injured man to the district hospital and to begin a search operation for the perpetrators. The attack follows a July suicide bombing that killed at least 17 people at Mengal’s residence, but no organization has yet claimed responsibility for this latest strike.
