Armed man arrested after tractor chase ends with SWAT vehicle block in Oregon

Police detained 53-year-old Erik Gordon Shunn in Clackamas County after he fired at arborists, a police drone and tried to flee on a small tractor.

A rifle-wielding suspect identified as Erik Gordon Shunn opened fire on arborists and a police drone in Clackamas County, Oregon, on Saturday, with investigators estimating over 200 rounds fired. After setting his weapon down, Shunn tried to escape on a red compact tractor, giving SWAT teams a chance to block the vehicle using an armored carrier. The maneuver succeeded, and officers secured the suspect roughly an hour after the initial emergency call.

First responders evacuated nearby residents and workers, and no injuries were reported. Shunn appeared before the Clackamas County Circuit Court on Monday, facing nine criminal charges such as attempted murder and weapons offenses, and remains detained without bail.
