Armed man killed by police at Nashville federal courthouse checkpoint
A man in his 40s who attempted to fire a pistol was shot dead by police at a security checkpoint inside Nashville's federal courthouse.
At a security checkpoint within the federal courthouse in downtown Nashville, a man in his 40s attempted to fire a pistol and was subsequently shot dead by police. Metro Nashville Police spokesperson Don Aaron reported that the suspect was killed after the failed gun discharge. Kris Mumford, also a police spokesperson, said that no additional information about other injuries or the identity of the shooter was available.
The shooting caused a nearby library to close temporarily as authorities responded. The U.S. Marshals Service operating inside the courthouse declined to provide comment. The incident remains under investigation.
