Armed McDonald's employee opens fire, injures coworker before police kill him

At approximately 9:30 a.m., Jonhatan Anguiano, 29, walked into a McDonald’s in Lodi, California, carrying a semi-automatic handgun and opened fire, striking a female coworker. Surveillance captured Anguiano in a uniform with a long black sleeve on his right arm shortly before officers from the Lodi Police Department confronted him. As police closed in, he shot at an officer, prompting the officers to return fire, resulting in his death at the scene.

The wounded employee was transported to a local hospital and is listed as stable. Authorities, including the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, are conducting a multi-agency investigation, and detectives are asking witnesses to come forward. Community leaders, such as City Councilmember Cameron Bregman, described the shooting as alarming for the small town.
