Armed mob attacks TMC and CPIM offices and former lawmakers' homes in Kolkata

In the early hours of Sunday, a sizable group of armed individuals targeted the offices of the All India Trinamool Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Jadavpur, Kolkata, as well as the homes of former legislators from both parties. The attackers damaged surveillance equipment, shattered windows, and assaulted residents who tried to intervene, prompting several complaints to the police. Both parties claim the violence was orchestrated by goons linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party, a claim the BJP rejects, stating the attacks were not party-sanctioned.

Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh highlighted CCTV footage that allegedly shows the assailants, while former TMC MLA Debabrata Majumdar reported personal property damage and assaults on neighbours. The violence follows the BJP's recent victory in the Jadavpur assembly constituency, a seat historically contested by the Left and TMC. No arrests have been reported, and the incident underscores rising political tensions in the region.
