Armed Resident Returns Fire, Stops Shooting Spree in South Carolina
A civilian in Edgemoor, South Carolina, shot back at a gunman who had opened fire, killing the attacker and sustaining injuries himself.
In the early hours of Thursday, Brandon Tavon Cassidy began shooting at two individuals in Edgemoor, Chester County, South Carolina. After one person was struck repeatedly, a second individual responded with gunfire, striking Cassidy and also receiving a gunshot wound. Both men were injured, and Cassidy later died from his injuries.
A third person involved in the incident was transported to a medical facility for further care. Chester County deputies arrived to find three victims and confirmed the deaths of Cassidy and the second victim, while the wounded civilian remains hospitalized. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
