Armed Russian Gerbera-2 drone recovered on Polish beach, explosives safely neutralised
Polish authorities retrieved an armed Russian Gerbera-2 drone from a beach in Rusinowo and safely disabled its warhead.
Deputy district military prosecutor Colonel Bartosz Okoniewski told journalists that after the warhead was detached, it was neutralised to prevent any danger, and the remaining drone was taken by the military for further inspection. Preliminary findings indicate the unmanned aircraft was a Russian Gerbera-2 model carrying a 4-kilogram warhead with a detonator. Prosecutors are pursuing charges related to endangering lives through the potential explosion and possible illegal entry across the state border.
The examination involved prosecutors, military counter-intelligence, army and police sappers, the Military Police and fire services. Earlier, the defence minister announced the drone may have flown over Lithuania before crossing into Russian airspace and operating over the Baltic Sea, but no chemical, biological or radiological hazards were found.
