Around 10,000 Demonstrators March in Dublin to Back Palestine
Approximately 10,000 people gathered in Dublin for a pro-Palestine march, demanding Irish sanctions on Israel and criticizing government policies.
On Saturday, roughly 10,000 participants marched from Parnell Square to Leinster House in Dublin, expressing solidarity with Palestine and urging the Irish government to impose sanctions on Israel. Zoe Lawlor, chair of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, accused the state of continuing commercial links with Israel, allowing US military operations at Shannon Airport, and funding the Israeli weapons sector. She pointed to a decline in Palestinian student visa approvals, from about 84% in 2025 to 27.5% this year, and criticized the requirement to send appeals by post despite Gaza’s lack of postal service.
Lawlor also denounced the Football Association of Ireland for playing Israel after crossing a picket line. Palestinian human-rights advocate Talha Al Ali described life under what he called an apartheid state, alleging land theft and forced expulsions in the West Bank. The rally marked the 21st national mobilization since the Gaza conflict began in October 2023.
Why it matters
The protest highlights growing public pressure on Ireland to reassess its diplomatic and economic ties with Israel.
