Arrests Made in Connection with Renoir Painting Theft in Southern France
In early September, burglars forced their way into the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer on the French Riviera and stole four Pierre‑Auguste Renoir paintings, two of which were later recovered from the museum's garden. The missing works are valued at about nine million euros, according to mayor Bryan Masson. Police operations in the Alpes‑Maritimes, Var, Hérault and Doubs regions have resulted in the arrest of several individuals suspected of involvement in the robbery. The whereabouts of the two unrecovered paintings remain unknown.
