Arson attack targets home of Jewish anti-Zionist activist in Jerusalem's Mea Shearim

A house belonging to a prominent Jewish anti-Zionist activist was set ablaze in Mea Shearim, Jerusalem, while the family was inside.

The fire broke out in the residence of a well-known Jewish activist who opposes Zionism, according to the group Voices of Rabbis. Video posted by the group shows children being pulled from the burning building. The organization said the family's only “crime” was their religious stance and opposition to Israel. No details on the perpetrators were provided.

Why it matters

The attack underscores escalating intra-societal violence in Israel over ideological and religious disagreements.
