Arson suspected in fire at Mazovia Starlink base, no injuries reported

On Wednesday night a fire broke out at a Starlink base situated on a private property in the Mazovia region. The incident was first reported by the landowner and later verified by junior officer Michał Maroszek of the State Fire Service in Grójec, who said the blaze started in the power-supply enclosure. Three fire units arrived and managed to extinguish the fire, but the station’s generator was damaged; no injuries were recorded.

Early investigations by the Internal Security Agency and the Central Police Investigation Bureau suggest the fire may have been deliberately set, although an electrical short cannot be excluded. The facility, run by state telecom operator Exatel, is a crucial node for Starlink’s broadband service throughout Central and Eastern Europe, including Ukraine. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitisation Krzysztof Gawkowski cautioned that loss of such stations would severely disrupt internet access, affecting services such as ATMs. Authorities continue to examine the cause of the blaze.
