Arunachal police rescue 51 victims and detain fifth child-trafficking facilitator

In a coordinated effort across several districts and neighboring states, Namsai police rescued 51 persons—47 of them children—from a trafficking ring that targeted vulnerable families. The investigation, overseen by Superintendent Sange Thinley and deputy SP Kengo Dirchi, also led to the arrest of a fifth suspected facilitator, Ema Loyi, increasing the total number of detainees to five. The rescued children, many under eight, had been placed in domestic work or hotel jobs under false promises of education.

Police have recorded statements before a magistrate under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and are examining money transfers ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 per child. The operation involved the District Child Protection Unit, Namsai Child Welfare Committee, Child Helpline and other child-protection agencies, with further searches planned to locate any remaining victims.
