ASEAN and China Push for Deeper Health Collaboration to Build Future-Ready Systems
ASEAN and China met in Kuala Lumpur to expand a decade-long health partnership, focusing on resilient, inclusive systems amid emerging threats.
In Kuala Lumpur, ASEAN and China convened the 10th ASEAN-China Health Ministers’ Meeting, co-chaired by Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad and Vice-Minister Liu Jinfeng of China’s National Health Commission. The summit underscored that emerging public-health threats, climate change, ageing populations and fast-moving technology demand health systems that are resilient, inclusive and sustainable. Delegates discussed how to translate the ASEAN Strategic Health Agenda 2026-2030 into concrete actions and to reinforce the ASEAN-China Memorandum of Understanding on health cooperation.
A joint statement is expected to capture collective commitments and guide future collaboration. Officials emphasized that strengthening health infrastructure will benefit over two billion residents of ASEAN and China, positioning the partnership for decades ahead.
